Let's start our 2021 summary, by wishing you an happy 2022. And now let's dive into last year! 🤿

What happened in 2021?

We've started 2021, by moving to new permises. We're still locating in the Karting in Nantes, but we enlarged our … offices. We have doubled our surface area!
And we even built a partition, to put some distance between us and our noisy server! 😅

Our processes

Last year, we decided to use ViewComponent in our projects. ViewComponent is a framework for building reusable, testable & encapsulated view components in Ruby on Rails.
To improve our use of ViewComponent, we decided, in collaboration with Etamin Studio, to build ViewComponent::Form: a customizable form builder using the same interface as ActionView::Helpers::FormBuilder but with extensible ViewComponent components.

We also build a gem called Administrator, a Rails gem for, and you won't believe it, the administration engine 😲. It's based on the gem madmin.
We decided to build our own, because we weren't satisfy with the existing ones: it's either too complicated to do custom views or not automated enough.

Finally, we built a small tool to enable us to exchange files with each other, developing Transfer, a simple internal file upload and sharing application. It's mainly inspired by WeTransfer for the interface.

What did we work on?

CADDEN

With Lucas, we continued to work on BALI, an easy-to-operate bathymetric measurement system based on a single rod. We worked on the new version of the web server interface.

FlyTheNest

We completed the development of the in-house web application, on which we had started work in 2020. In June, the project was launched! 🚀🎉

But this didn't mean the end of our collaboration with FlyTheNest and Sillages: they are our first customers of our hosting and our maintenance services! 🍾
So, we're keeping in touch with them to fine-tune the application even further to their needs.

Quitri

Since 2019, we have continued to help Etamin Studio update and add new features on quitri.com, for Citeo.

Typofonderie

After a long conception period, 2021 marks the start of development of the new typofonderie.com website. It's our biggest project to date, a fully customized and hand-crafted e-commerce website, with a CMS component. Frontend is built with Rails (using ViewComponent and StimulusJS), and the design is done in-house by our customer. We also have to synchronize and communicate with ZeBase: a custom ERP-type application developed, also in-house, by Typofonderie.

Ma-avocate

This is our first collaboration with Marianne Nicolas aka In August, a French designer, also based in Nantes, and an alumnus, like us, of Gobelins. Marianne contacted us to build a showcase site for a lawyer friend, Marianne Abgrall. Kolin (another Gobelins alumnus 😅) worked with us on the development of this beautiful site.

What about 2022?

2022, will be as 2021 a busy year for us! The new typofonderie.com website should go into production, while we continue to work on projects for our other customers.
We will also continuing to work on Administrator and ViewComponent_form.
What's more, we're looking to fit out our new premises a little more.
