As 2021 draws to a close, it's time to take a step back and look ahead to 2022, to see what's been happening in our office life, how our processes have evolved, the projects we've been working on and what we're looking forward to in 2022! 🕵️
What happened in 2022?
With Etamin Studio and Ouvrages, we joined forces and we won a call for tenders issued by the Mairie de Paris. 🏆 So for the next 2 years (which may be renewed), we'll be working on the Paris website, and perhaps other websites or tools / applications.
In the past, Etamin Studio had already won a tender for them, and we had helped Etamin on somes paris.fr updates.
Apart from that, we were in the middle of developing of Typofonderie plus all our customers' other projects, so nothing much new.
Our processes
As mentioned in the previous paragraph, development intensified last year. So, we focused on improving our production process, with the aim of enhancing our well-being at work and, in turn, our productivity.
We also needed to improve communication with our customers, especially when we're in the middle of a development rush, so that they have a clear picture of where we are, what's been done, what's left to do, etc.
To achieve this, we decided to divide the tasks between us: Baptiste would manage project and relation with customes, and Nicolas would handle the technical aspects and coding. We're still both coding, of course.
What did we work on?
Here's an overview of some of the projects we've been working on, which we thought worth mentioning.
Typofonderie
We've teased you enough now: in August, the new typofonderie.com was launched! 🎉
We're quite proud: this is our biggest project so far, a fully customized, hand-crafted font e-commerce site, with a CMS component. Fonts are an unusual product, which therefore required very specific development; for example, there are different types of licenses sold on the site: desktop, web, app, … which makes the final price vary. And that's just one of the criteria. And all this data is retrieved dynamically via their tools.
The launch of production doesn't mean we've finished working on it: the version launched is a light version, after which we had to continue adding features, such as, for example, the ability for an administrator to create vouchers, and for a customer to enter them in their shopping cart.
French Ecological Transition Ministry
After working on few Redmine plugins for the Ministry, they came to us with a new project: MyDCIM.
This is an open-source application that is a tool designed to efficiently manage data center infrastructures.
Our first assignment on this project was to update the version of Rails used (from 5 to 7).
From then on, we'll be working regularly on this application, to update it, add new features or clean up/improve the code.
Marge De Manœuvre
Like last year, Marianne Nicolas came to us, to develop a showcase site for another friend of hers: a social, occupational and organizational psychologist. She wanted to start her own business to help people get to know themselves better, become more aware of their worth and live rewarding personal and professional lives. That's how marge de manœuvre was born!
So with Lucas, we built this beautiful website. We also brought a lot of intention to SEO, and to accessibility.
What about 2023?
Our first objective for 2023 is to take on an apprentice 🧑🎓. It's an old wish that we had, we now have everything needed to make it possible. We can't wait to increase our team!
Of course, we will continue to work on ongoing projects (Typofonderie, FlyTheNest, MyDCIM, …).
We look forward to working with our team partners for the Mairie de Paris!
